"This is the reason I wanted to teach: to make a difference in (student's) lives, and I believe I did make a difference."—Dr. Annette Ayers, North Carolina Journeys Contributor, North Carolina Teacher of 35 years, and current Director of Education and Programs at Mount Airy Museum of Regional History in Mount Airy.
We agree.
At Gibbs Smith, Publisher, we started educational publishing to make a difference for students, to help shape their attitudes about history and social studies.
One of the pieces of our program about which we are especially excited includes this website, which will feature the audio books, interactive games, worksheets, a dynamic test bank, pictures, links to other important information, and Facilitating Exchange.
This space will provide a special community for North Carolina Teachers, our contributors, and our company to learn from each other - share information, lesson plans, questions and messages about the program, or anything else all of us can think up.
We hope as you use these materials and create your own innovative activities around this program, you'll share them with us (and other teachers).
Perhaps you or your class would like to write a question (or questions) about the materials to other classes or teachers or contributors. Or share a unique field trip, or other classroom adventure.
We would love if you have other ideas about our website, program materials, or any other feedback, that you post it at Facilitating Exchange, and create a dialogue within our community of teachers, contributors and staff at Gibbs Smith, Publisher.
Check back toward the end of summer 2007, for more updates.
